DIY candlesticks made from pipe / DIY lysestager lavet af vandrør.

DIY candlesticks made from plumbing pipes.

We must realize, that we are facing the dark months of the year … but it just gives me a good reason to light a lot of candles … one of the great joys of autumn. I like the raw industrial interior trend, and fell over these plumbing pipes and fittings, last time I went through my local Silvan . And some time ago I saw some similar candlesticks in a store in Stockholm… which of course I thought … it’s got to be easy peacy to do-it-yourself…. and that’s it …. seriously it takes max 10 min. screwing them together … and then you have cool candlesticks for the cozy winter evenings.

Here is how I would look if I was the lucky owner of a Boform kitchen of this caliber as they displays in the Boform store on Hellerupvej …. It is simply one of the finest kitchen  designs I have seen for a long time. The craftmanship and nursing around the details is quite unique. They obviously do not compromise on quality. So I keep on dreaming.

Denne aften stod i “fremtidens køkken” tegn.

This evening we should get some knowlegde of the future kitchen trends. We started the evening by getting to know the history of Boform by CEO Lars Mehlum. Later trend expert Mads Arlien Søborg told us how he sees the future of kitchens. Some of the buzz words were: Slow luxury – digital detox – kitchen experiences-rather than kitchen trends. So not the big news … we all know it … we want to have fewer things but better crafted and preferably locally produced. We head towards times where we need to be off-line in between, there will be zones or times when we turn off all screens and is present with each other. It could be that we gather for meals in a kitchen, which today is almost like a livingroom. We no longer need a living room with TV, as we see what we want on each of our devices where we want. So the kitchen will be where we gather around food, and it will become the central and most important room in our homes.

CEO for Boform Lars Mehlum tells us about the company Boform and it's history.

What’s not to like ?

The closed kitchen with the dark wood and black Italian marble.

The closed kitchen with the dark wood and black Italian marble.

And I must say if I had this kitchen, I would spend all my time there … I promise … I would NEVER leave it …. it’s SO elegant and well-made. When it is closed, you have the most beautiful doors with herringbone pattern in dark wood. Ejecting the doors between the sections, a decadent black marble interior comes at sight … I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE ! What’s not to like ?

And when you open the doors....you get this...a black marble bar.

And when you open the doors….you get this…a black marble bar.

After having been drooling over the delicate kitchens, could we drool over what gourmet chef Karsten Kroman could come up with… and there was a lot of delicious courses… we started with a delicious shrimp bisque with dill oil …. can only say, you have to taste it … and it is indeed fortunate that Karsten like to teach, he has a cooking classes called “all about cooking” and I highly recommend you to try it … you have a party of his company … and you learn a lot, I was there some time ago … that you can read about here. The first picture in this post says it all.2016-08-25-19-22-14-1

The entire evening was made in collaboration with Bo Bedre, who was also present along with some of their readers and customers to Boform. So watch Bo Bedre’s readers events, they are really good. Here late in the evening, where the party has moved into the kitchen and everybody enjoyed the company of Boform’s sweet staff and Karsten Kroman. We walked away quite high on all the eye candy and ouor stomachs filled with the best goodies, and dreams of a new kitchen. (That dream has been going on for very long time and it will unfortunately probably not be this high-end kind …. but I keep dreaming …;-))2016-08-25-20-12-10.

Solhat og siv- forlænger sommeren.

Solhat or Echinacea from Gartneriet Pedersen.

Solhat or Echinacea from Gartneriet Pedersen.

Yes, and I think coneflower/solhat, that is the Danish name for  “echinacea” the most beautiful late-summer flower. They can be found in a sea of reddish and yellowish shades. (And are you the type who still prefer white flowers, then it also comes in white). The Indians used not only sunhat as a medicinal plant. They also sacrificed the plant to the gods in order to obtain a better contact. Coneflower is one of the most widely used herbal medicines in the United States. Also in Europe the plant is used for about 200 products.

Besides coneflower is grass the new black in the garden. So I have put together some plants in reddish hues to my pots in front of the front door of the cottage. The grasses are available in several heights and shades … I love the light and feathery ears they make.

When du will use flowers and grasses together it is a the en good idea to put the highest in the background. So the lowest in the front and highest in the back. And remember to use different textures and heights. So opposites work well together.

Remember to have the right gear …. it is often more inspiring if you have the right tools to work with. Most important is your hands after working in the garden a good hand lotion is a must, and has to belong to any home with a garden.

The weather is almost like summer in DK and I still skirts and sandals …. because I love it!… and I try to forget that the autumn cold is just around the corner. Just as I prefer to work with the window open, like right now… So I’ve made a new skirt of my grandpa’s old pajamas … it’s very most in fashion with pajamas, but this was not fit as such, so with a little rubber band and a sewing machine, it became a casual striped skirt. Watch here how it’s done.

One trend that can not be overlooked … We have them in the living room, the kitchen, the kidsrooms, the hallways, they can also be used in the bathroom and why not hang one or a bunch in the office …? And I’m talking about is the small hanging SHELVES. I have now seen them in all sorts of materials and I’m crazy about them …. in fact, I even made one of …. (yes, you guessed it – recycled materials … see it at the end of this post .. .and it and instructions on how to easily and simply make it, can be found in my book LOPPEFUND.)

Last week I did an article for Danish magazine Hendes Verden, and I had to come up with ideas to storage your DIY articles in your workshop or office. This pegboard was one of them…and I still have it hanging over my desk, course I really got to love it.

Mustard – The new interior colour.

After the design fairs Tendence in Frankfurt and Northmodern in Copenhagen. Have I reached a conclusion after reviewing my photos from there – Yellow is hot, not bright sunshine yellow, but more like mustard yellow. In fact, the scale from mustard to a burnt red paprika have been seen a lot. And I love it, especially if they are put together with something more fresh such as pink (okay the combination pink and yellow has been seen before, but it still looks really amazing) and clear blue …

Here you see a wonderful wooden cup with the yellow colour like fading from the bottom. It is from the fair trade company Kinta.

Interior “Tendence”.

I just arrived after a couple of inspiring days at the fair “Tendence” in Frankfurt. Several of the Danish exhibitors I had meet before on other fairs this season, but I also meet some Danish exhibitors I did not know, because their main markets are the southern Europe, so they do not exhibit at the fairs in Denmark.20160828_133425

The big topic of conversation was the plans to move the show to 24 – 27 of June in 2017. Then it will be the first in a string of interior fairs in Europe. The atmosphere was both for and against among the exhibitors we spoke with. Exhibition organizers “Messe Frankfurt” explained the move with the importance for the buyers to place the orders early. In addition, they want to exhibit more product groups, so the fair become more attractive to major international customers. One of the product groups you can expect to see is outdoor furniture that I personally am looking forward to see more of.

For me as a trend-hungry design junkie, it was a pleasure to see so many Danish brands and I have to admit that it is their design language, that appeals to me. So a great part of the brands I would like to highlight from Tendence is Danish.

Here are some of the brands that put a significant footprint on my mind. First PYTT living a new Danish brand that was launched in 2015. it all started with that they had access to some ful textiles, but quickly realized that on pillows and blankets, there was great competition, and perhaps not so great development potential . So they took the textiles and made everything else in addition to the more typical bedding and couch cushions. They have made  everything from the acoustic damping plates that can form an entire piece of art on the wall to wooden coathangers that is hanging in a textile or leather strap.

News at Northmodern.

I got a lot of good inspiration for inspiring home styling and articles for some while ….  North Modern has just ended and here are several of the interior firms exhibited their news for buyers and press.
Today I’ll show you my first 3 favorites.

The combination of daybed and velvet, can only be one winner this is from the Danish brand By Klip Klap … two of the biggest trends united in one simple and very beautiful piece of furniture … I absolutely love it. It is also a multi-functional piece of furniture where you can buy 1-2 or more cushions for depending on how you will use the daybed. This way it looks elegant in a hallway. If you put another cushion and back cushions on it, The daybed will be perfect in a living room and so on. I like it!

BAENK design by NUR Design and produced by WOUD Design.

Another company which can also be something unique is Woud design, they produce really good design for very reasonable prices. It is a Danish company that works with designers from around the world, the look is simple and Nordic. This bench also has a multi functionality with the hole you can choose to hold your umbrella or your green plants. (Which also is a megatrend in every home today).

I would also like to show you this news from Woud design. It is a small hanging shelf with a spacious drawer underneath which you can open sideways. It is SO neatly crafted and exquisite materials …. I see it for myself next to my bed … or down by the front door where the keys and the like can lie in the drawer … super convenient and VERY fine. Definitely on my wish list for September, when it should land in stores for about 999, – d.kr.

Pikaplants from Amsterdam. Coffee plants in a jar.

Pikaplant from Amsterdam. Coffee plants in a jar.

For the green trend that has come as a cascading over us like a tsunami of full strength, I will give it up for this coffee plant. It can save anyone who doesn’t have the slightest green fingers and are frightened at the thought of green living. Jar from Pikaplant is just as fine in its own eco system, so you do not need to water or fertilize … You let it stand in it’s closed jar and it will reuse the water and air in there continuously. That’s smart!

Genbrugs bogindbinding – Upcycled bookwrapping.

School has started and piles of books to be wrapped…. We spent the day yesterday finding wallpaper remnants in the attic and create some unique books. They’ve got an added feature with string to mark where you have come to, and otherwise just super personal books. You can use the method to wrap with any paper, but choose something that is a bit heavy it is stronger.

Dette skal du bruge / All you need is this:

Sådan gør du / this is how you do:

Start by placing your book open on the paper to measure the size of it. You have to make it app. 5-8 cm bigger on all sides.

Place the book in the middle and cut slits by the back. Same width as the back of your book.

Fold the slits in, like this.

Now choose a strap for your book, cut it 10 - 12 cm. longer that the height of your book. And use tape to secure it inside by the top back slit in your book.

Now close the book and make sure your strap is placed correct and fold in the paper while the book is closed. Now you have lines that you can use for folding when you open the book. Because here you have to be careful not to tighten the paper too much then you will not be able to close the book.

Fold the top and bottom around the book front and back side. like this.

The finished result. You can now add stickers to write your name. These are from Søstrene Grene.

Program for modeugen for alle fashionista’s.

Tilmelding og mere information her.

Tilmelding og mere information her.

Klik her.
